Worked retail example
Coat marked 30% off from $120.00

Final price: $120.00 − $36.00 = $84.00
Total at checkout: $84.00
Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate a discount?
Multiply the original price by the discount percentage and divide by 100 to find your savings: Savings = Price × (Discount ÷ 100). Subtract savings from the original price to find the final sale price: Sale Price = Price − Savings.
How do stacked discounts work (e.g. 20% off plus an extra 10% off)?
Stacked discounts apply sequentially, not additively. 20% off plus 10% off is not 30% off. On a $100 item: 20% off reduces it to $80. Then 10% off $80 takes off $8, leaving a final price of $72 (an effective 28% total discount).
